72nd Spring Auction
One of the highlights of the Spring auction is a Still-life by József Nemes Lampérth.
József Nemes Lampérth created one of the most extraordinary oeuvres in the history of Hungarian avant-garde painting in the 20th century. He died tragically young, at the age of 33, and his major works were painted in just ten years. The Still-life with Potted Plants and Plate is an oil painting from 1916. The starting price is 65 Million Hungarian forint at the Gallery’s Spring Auction of Classic masterpieces.
The other outstanding piece at the auction is a Landscape by Lajos Tihanyi, painted in 1911. The Szomolnok Landscape was once part of the Korda Collection, one of Tihanyi’s favourite pieces of his own. It has been exhibited in several major International and Hungarian exhibitions, including the Panama-Pacific World’s Fir in San Francisco and the Brooklyn Museum in New York.
In addition to these two masterpieces, other astonishing works by Vilmos Aba-Novák, László Mednyánszky, József Rippl-Rónai, Hugó Scheiber and János Vaszary will also be on display at the auction.
