It is extremely easy to buy on our auctions, either personally or by phone, from home or anywhere in the world. Check out our brief introduction video showing step-by-step how you can easily buy on the auctions of Virág Judit Gallery!


Steps for Auction Purchases

1. Find the work you like

  • Find the date of our upcoming auction
  • Take a look at our auction catalog, complete with art historical background research and studies, even in virtual form, made by renowned art historians and experts of the gallery
  • Visit our gallery to see the auction preview where the auctioned works are presented for two weeks prior to the sale
  • If you wish, we'll give you condition reports on the piece you are interested in, and send detailed photographs
  • Sign up for our newsletter to get informed about our exhibitions and auctions

2. Register to bid

Register to bid

How to proceed when the time has come to bid on the desired item? To be able to bid you need to register. This is possible at the auction venue or online. (Link to Online Registration Form)

3. Select the form of bidding

In person

To bid at an auction in person is an exciting experience. To do so, you can register at the auction site right before the auction to receive your paddle or register prior online (link)

Phone

If you wish to bid on the phone, register with our colleagues and during the sale we will call you before your chosen lot. (link)

Absentee Bid

If you are unable to attend the auction, place an absentee bid on the selected items and we will bid on your behalf at the sale until your given amount. You can download the absentee bid form by clicking on the link below, please fill it, sign it and send it back to our e-mail address. (link)

Online via LiveAuctioneers or Invaluable

Through the online auction platform of Virág Judit Gallery, with live video streaming, you can bid on your device anywhere in the world or comfortably at home, enjoying the excitement of the sale. Please note that in case of online bidding an extra 5% fee will be added to the regular buyer's premium.

4. Select the most appropriate form of payment

If you have successfully bidden on our auction, the proceedings are:

We will fill out the invoice of your purchase with the information you provide. The invoice includes the hammer price of the lot and the 23% buyer’s premium.

Payment options

The total purchase price includes the hammer price plus 23 percent buyer’s premium. You can settle the amount on the spot or within 14 business days after the auction by bank transfer or bank card credit.

Shipment

In Budapest, on request, we will ship the purchased artwork free of charge. In the case of foreign shipment, we’ll help you to obtain the export license, shipping and packaging.

Private Sales

Virág Judit Gallery offers customers direct sales as well. We will ensure that your private sale experience is met with unrivaled discretion, efficiency and convenience every step of the way.

The gallery’s database is uniquely rich in paintings sold by Hungarian and foreign private collectors, thus you could find pieces that will not appear on auctions.

Paintings of private purchases are accompanied as well by studies and analysis using art historical documents.

Webshop

The paintings here, framed, and accompanied with a certificate of authenticity can be purchased immediately in our gallery. The selected works of art can be viewed in the gallery before the purchase – please arrange an appointment.
